It's Canada's 150th birthday and CBC Life is celebrating with some sweet treats and a good old history lesson that you need to solve. Watch the cookie clues and see if you can guess the inventions developed right here in the great white North.
The artist behind these cute creations is Lindsey Gazel, pastry chef and owner of Lindsey Bakes(external link), a sweet treat bake shop in Toronto. She makes incredible (punny!) cookies, delightful cakes and other tasty desserts for birthdays, showers and has gained a healthy social following thanks to it.

Want to make your own Canadian invention cookies?
Here's what you'll need:
  • 1 cup of butter, room temperature
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla
  • 2 1/2 cups of flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
Here's how to do it:
  1. Cream together butter and sugar until smooth in a large bowl. Beat in eggs and add the vanilla. Add flour, baking soda and salt. Cover, and chill the dough for at least one hour (or overnight for best results).
  2. Preheat oven to 400F degrees. Roll out dough to desired thickness (about ½ an inch). Cut into desired shapes and place on ungreased cookie sheets.
  3. Bake for 7-8 minutes and then cool.
