Darlene Fach says long, unkempt grass is an eyesore that leaves her embarrassed for her community
Some Calgarians say the city needs to do a better job of cutting the grass in parks and on boulevards.
Darlene Fach says the knee-high grass is so unkempt in her north-central Calgary neighbourhood, it is becoming an embarrassment and the city needs to bring in mowers more often.
"This year it seems to be much worse than it has in the past, not that it's always been great," she told CBC News.
"This year where we live the grass got so high, I mean, at least 12 inches and the dandelions went to seed, so we had a sea of white. I'm embarrassed by our community."

Fach said she is more disappointed than angry.
"I love Calgary," she said. "I love my city and I take care of our yard."
Dandelions on a city-owned boulevard near her home have blown onto her grass.
"I would like to see the grass cut more frequently and perhaps if they can cut the grass before the dandelions go to seed, it might be one way so they don't re-seed themselves."
Calgary Parks spokesperson Chris McGeachy says a new contractor was hired to mow boulevards around Calgary this year.
He acknowledges the number of complaints are up, but says the weather is playing a part.
"There's been a lot of rain followed by sunny weather, so the grass is actually growing quite rapidly and will slow down as the summer months progress," said McGeachy.
Anyone with complaints about the quality of parks and boulevard maintenance is advised to call 311.
