National search takes place in 17 different Canadian cities
Volunteers hit Winnipeg streets Saturday afternoon looking for homeless veterans.
Saturday is the second annual VETS Canada search for veterans living on the streets.
The annual national walk sees volunteers in 17 different Canadian cities search the streets for homeless veterans and to raise awareness of the issue.
VETS Canada is a national charity that connects veterans in need with services in housing, health and employment.
Joan Leppik led the walk in Winnipeg Saturday and said the organization has helped at least 30 homeless veterans in the city.
"It is a very serious problem right now."
