Recovery started in November
P.E.I.'s beef industry is showing some signs of strength following a long down period.
Prices for slaughter cattle have been increasing since November, and in April reached $116.07 per hundredweight, or 100 pounds. They had bottomed out at $93.26.
Following a strong 18-month run in 2014-15, prices on the Island peaked at $155.16 in May 2015.
Cattle prices remain well below those in provinces from Ontario and west, which range from $128 to $160.
