Several top donors contributed to both the PC and Liberal Party
Elections P.E.I. released the financial contributions to the province's four political parties in 2016 on Thursday.
The Liberals received more than twice as much in donations as the PC Party.
Contributions less than $250 | Contributions greater than $250 | Total contributions received | |
---|---|---|---|
Liberal Party | $82,452 | $320,970 | $403,422 |
PC Party | $23,252 | $150,112 | $173,364 |
Green Party | $12,200 | $9,490 | $21,690 |
NDP | $10,618 | $14,555 | $25,173 |
Cox and Palmer, a law firm with locations in every Atlantic province, was the highest contributor for both the Liberals ($6,230.62), and the PC's ($5,900.16).
Bell Canada was also among the highest contributors to both the PC Party ($3,218.88) and Liberals ($4,380.36).
The Greens were the only party to receive more total money from contributions less than $250 than those greater than $250, due in part to the party policy not to accept corporate contributions.
