Scotland looking forward to 'strong sense of community, the beautiful scenery and of course the food'
CBC P.E.I. is pleased to welcome Jay Scotland as meteorologist for Compass.
Scotland is currently working as CBC meteorologist for Toronto and Windsor.
"As a meteorologist I could not ask for a more exciting place to be! P.E.I. gets rocked by some incredible storms and I can't wait to track them and hopefully get outside to experience them," Scotland said.
He added he is also looking forward to Island living.
"My family and I are really looking forward to the Island's strong sense of community, the beautiful scenery and of course the food. Hopefully I can find a good tailor as I do expect to add a few inches to the waistline once we arrive."
Scotland's weather roots go deep. He became hooked while filling in as a weather specialist at CBC's Kingston, Ont., affiliate CKWS-TV, and decided to take the meteorology program at Mississippi State. He was part of the CBC News Network morning show before moving to the local Toronto and Windsor shows.
Scotland will join Louise Martin on Compass, who was announced as the new host Tuesday morning.
The exact timing of the move has not been announced.
