Pay on the Island is the lowest in the country

Wages on P.E.I. recovered slightly in March, but have been on a general downward trend as measured against the Canadian average since September.

P.E.I. has the lowest wages in the country, though other sources of income raise household incomes out of the bottom spot.

The decline follows a 28-month period of growth, where the P.E.I. wage rose from 81 per cent of the national average to 87 per cent. In March the average P.E.I. wage was 85 per cent of the national wage, back where it was a year ago.
