Scott Rowe not on duty at time of allegation
A veteran Dalmeny Police Service officer is charged with assault.
Scott Rowe appeared in provincial court in Saskatoon on Tuesday. Dalmeny is north of Saskatoon.
The assault is alleged to have happened on Sunday. Rowe was not on duty at the time.
Dalmeny police Chief Ted Mossop said that he's aware of the charge and is waiting to hear the facts around the allegation from the RCMP, which is handling the investigation.
He said that no decision has yet been made whether Rowe will remain on active duty while the allegation is before the courts.
Rowe is due back in court on June 27. The judge ordered that Rowe not be allowed to carry firearms except for work purposes.
According to the Town of Dalmeny's website, Rowe joined the department in 2007. Before that time, he worked for the Corman Park Police Service. He graduated from the Saskatchewan Police College in 2000.
