OAKVILLE, ON—An amazing moment in the history of live comedy took place this past weekend at O'Gorney's comedy club.
While attending an open mic stand-up comedy night together, a few friends decided to start an improv troupe of their own, and dubbed themselves "Wong Foo Fighting", thereby using the last remaining available name for an improv troupe.
"As soon as we chose it, an eerie calm came over the room, and there was a weird kind of ringing in my ears," said Aaron Monro, one of three members in the newfound troupe. It was like the universe just… knew. There was nothing left."
"Ummm, no, that wasn't a ringing in her ears. I was trying to call her," said CEO of Improv T.J. Pasquesi when reached by phone. "Think of the most obvious thing first, then start to get outlandish if we still can't figure it out. It's — I, argh. Anyway. Not the point."

"Yeah, we received word through the news ticker that the final name had been chosen. I guess I knew this day theoretically had to come someday, but I didn't know it would be in my lifetime, or under my stewardship."
Carter Jakarts, a member of Wong Foo Fighting, said that he feels bittersweet about having used up so many of the available names on his past troupes that only lasted for a few weeks, or even just a single show.
"Oh yeah, we really went through them very wastefully. Fanny Ramirez, Hammered But Not Nailed, Tofu Patrol, Tina Flay," he said, recalling past comedic teams. "If I had known this was even a risk I would have just done a bunch of shows with Tofu Patrol. I mean, I didn't love it, I don't even really know what it meant, it's not even really a pun, but at least it would have left some options for others, and for my children, and my children's children, should they choose to improvise."
"Oh, Batman of the Oprah too," he added. "That was one. I think it was a play on Phantom of the Opera? You can't change both words though. That's not really how it works.
At press time, Wong Foo Fighting had already broken up due to scheduling issues.
