Man was pronounced dead at the scene
An 83-year-old man from West Prince, P.E.I., is dead following a car accident near Tignish Tuesday morning, say RCMP.
The driver was alone in the car, which went off the road on Route 14 in Christopher Cross, sometime around 11:30 a.m. After leaving the road the vehicle struck a tree.
The accident was discovered by a passerby. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
A section of Route 14 between Hogan Road and Broderick Road was closed for traffic for about three hours while the on scene investigation was conducted.
The cause of the collision is still under investigation. Police have not ruled out a health issue as the cause of the accident.
