The longlist was selected by a team of readers, all published Canadian authors: Claire Battershill, Chris Benjamin, Spencer Gordon, Matt Joudrey, Irina Kovalyova, Doretta Lau, Anna Leventhal, Jeffrey Moore, Saleema Nawaz, Jess Taylor, Thomas Trofimuk, and Rui Umezawa.
The jury, which consists of Greg Hollingshead, Padma Viswanathan and Richard Van Camp, will select the four finalists and the grand prize winner. The shortlist will be announced on April 13 and the grand prize winner will be revealed on April 19. The winning author will receive $6,000 from the Canada Council for the Arts(external link), publication in Air Canada enRoute magazine(external link) and a 10-day writing residency at The Banff Centre(external link).
