Five authors made the 2017 CBC Short Story Prize shortlist.
The finalists were:
The shortlist was selected by this year's jury, comprised of Jen Sookfong Lee, Shyam Selvadurai and Marina Endicott.
Each of the finalists received $1,000 from the Canada Council for the Arts(external link) and had their story published on CBC Books.
Alix Hawley was named the winner of the 2017 CBC Short Story Prize for "Witching."
She received $6,000 from the Canada Council for the Arts(external link) and a 10-day writing residency at the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity(external link) and her story waspublished in Air Canada enRoute magazine(external link)
