Crews estimate tenants will be able to move back in at the end of June

Tenants of 3 York Point Road will have to move because of the installation of a new roundabout as part of the Cornwall bypass construction, but they'll be moving back into the same apartment building.
The five-unit apartment building is being moved across the road.
The province said it began talks with the owner of the building last fall, and the two parties reached an agreement and the government is covering tenants' rents for the two months they have to live somewhere else.
Craig Peters is the owner of PD Construction Ltd, the company that's responsible for moving the apartment building.
"We're hoping that we're going to be done by the end of June," said Peters. "Hopefully it will be relocated mid-next week, but then we have to put a foundation under it and that will take some time."
Peters said the process will involve building a steel structure underneath the existing building, sliding it off the existing foundation, putting it on some wheels and rolling it across the road.

'It's going to take a little time'

Once the structure has been relocated, crews will then have to build a new foundation for the building.

"It's pretty difficult but this is something we do every day," said Peters. "It's going to take a little time."
Peters said the routine procedure is made a little more difficult due to the amount of construction going on in the surrounding area.
"It's busy in there with the roundabout going in and Island Coastal is on site, Maritime Electric is on site. That's about the only challenge, trying to work around everybody."
