Some residents tell CBC Toronto they have never seen lake levels this high
Low-lying areas along Lake Ontario are still coping with intense, destructive wave action on the shore even though much of the Greater Toronto Area was spared from perilous flood conditions this week.
Some residents told CBC Toronto that the conditions were "pretty shocking to see" and that lake levels are amongst the highest they'd ever seen.
"I've never seen the water levels this high and I've lived here all my life," said Dave Graham, a longtime Ajax resident.
Graham was spared from any danger to his family's home, he added, but he expressed dismay about how much erosion the intense wave action has caused to stretches of shoreline in the Ajax area.
Rain that began Thursday afternoon and carried on into the early morning hours Saturday posed difficulties for citieis
While the rain has largely tapered off, wind off the lake can continue to push high water over the shore breakers.
