2017 is gearing up to be a big year for singer-songwriter Ruth B(external link). Fresh off of winning accolades at the JUNO Awards and Canadian Radio Music Week Awards, she's dropping her debut album, Safe Haven, on May 5th (which includes her multi-platinum hit "Lost Boy(external link)") before heading out on tour(external link).
But before she became a bonafide Canadian pop sensation, Ruth B, who grew up in Edmonton, was a young girl whose life was changed when she heard Lauryn Hill(external link)'s 1998 album The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill.
