Troy Wason, the former executive director of Alberta's Progressive Conservative party, has joined the Alberta Party and plans to help it prepare for the next provincial election.
On Monday, he announced on Twitter that he will help the Alberta Party with an organizational review and strategy planning for the 2019 election. Wason is doing the work as a paid consultant.
Wason quit as the PC party's executive director on March 19, one day after Jason Kenney was elected party leader.

Wason said he wanted to stay in politics and the Alberta Party aligns with his socially progressive views.
"Once you've been doing this for three or four decades, it's in your blood," he said. "And so, I was looking for a new home."
The Alberta Party has positioned itself at the centre of the political spectrum.
Wason said he resigned as PC executive director because he doesn't agree with Kenney's desire to destroy the party and join forces with Wildrose members.
"If I wanted to be with the Wildrose, I would have been with the Wildrose," he said. " And I didn't. So to me, I was looking for a new home and, fortunately, there is the Alberta Party."
Leader Greg Clark was the only Alberta Party MLA elected in the 2015 election. Clark said the party has seen in surge in new memberships since Kenney became PC party leader.
