Property tax assessment increases tied to provincial consumer price index
Property owners on P.E.I. will see a small increase in assessments for tax purposes this year.
A government spokesperson told CBC News most assessments will go up 1.2 per cent, in line with a policy that sees assessments rise with the provincial consumer price index (CPI).
The CPI on P.E.I. rose from 129.3 in 2015 to 130.8 last year, up 1.16 per cent. Assessments will be mailed out to property owners early this month.
Last year there was no increase in assessments, because the CPI fell.
