Accolades continue to pile up for Rustico-based band
P.E.I. band Ten Strings and a Goat Skin can add an East Coast Music Award to their growing list of accolades.
The trio, made up of Jesse Périard and brothers Rowen and Caleb Gallant, won for Roots/Traditional Recording of the Year for their album Auprès du Poêle.
It's been a good weekend for the Gallant family. Rowen and Caleb's uncle, Lennie Gallant, won two ECMAs.
At Shetland Folk Festival
Ten Strings and a Goat Skin weren't able to be at the ECMAs in Saint John to accept the award because they are in the U.K. playing at the world-famous Shetland Folk Festival. Rob Oakie, executive director of Music PEI, accepted the award on their behalf.
It's been quite a year for the Rustico-based band, who were were nominated for a Juno Award and four Canadian Folk Music Awards. They've been playing concerts around the world, and in February, were invited to play for the king and queen of Sweden.
In December Auprès du Poêle was named critics' choice by the Canadian folk roots magazine Penguin Eggs.
