For 85 minutes, a Killer holds a Dying Woman captive in a secluded barn. Their names say it; there is no escaping the horrific conclusion. In the empty space to either side are the Dying Woman's Sister and a Police Officer. Their action spans nine years as the sister beats her head against a police force agonizingly slow to investigate the disappearance of marginalized sex workers. The play gives a fictional victim's story back to her as the Dying Woman fights to refuse the inevitable. It will not help her, but her heroic defiance gives voice to women whose lives or spirits have been lost to violence. (From the playwright)
From the book
Dying Woman and Killer are in the middle of the stage; Sister and Police officer are on either side.
Hands tied behind her back, Dying Woman wears a miniskirt and one muddy high heel — her other foot is bare. Her toenails are painted red and a purple coat lies in a heap by her feet. Police Officer wears a suit. There is mud on his shoes. Killer wears sweats and mucky gumboots. Sister wears jeans and running shoes with splotches of mud on them.
