Skype tips lead to child porn charges against Ottawa man

Search warrant executed Tuesday at Nepean address

Police have charged a 23-year-old Ottawa man with child pornography offences after getting tips from a national centre devoted to reporting child exploitation.
The Ottawa Police Service said that late last November, they received seven reports from the National Centre for Missing and Exploited Children's CyberTipLine.
The reports, submitted by Skype, indicated an Ottawa IP address had uploaded images of child sexual abuse.
Ottawa police then got a production order and were able to connect the IP address with a residence in the community of Nepean.
On Tuesday officers executed a search warrant of that address, police said, and found images of child sexual abuse on digital devices.
The accused is charged with making child pornography available, accessing child pornography and two counts of possession of child pornography.
He is expected to appear in court on March 8.
