Autopsy scheduled Monday for a man found deceased in a makeshift shelter
The death of a man whose body was found in a makeshift shelter in Nose Hill Park is believed to be non-criminal, Calgary police say.
Around noon on Saturday, a hiker alerted police to the body, which was found in the area of John Laurie Boulevard and 19th Street N.W.
Police initially said the death was being treated as suspicious.
The homicide unit was being sent in to investigate, as is protocol in all undetermined deaths, police said in a release.
On midday Sunday, police said in an update that the death was no longer being considered to be criminal in nature.
An autopsy was scheduled for Monday.
Police said no further details would be released unless the autopsy determined the death to be suspicious after all.
