Bullied by his brother and living in the shadow of his athletic best friend, Jonah is crippled by self-loathing and insecurity. Then a mysterious stranger hands him a disposable camera with the power to transport him into someone else's body — and someone else's life. But with a limited number of shots and trouble mounting click by click, will this unhappy boy find a new life? Or will the secret he's been keeping follow him wherever he goes? Richard Scrimger's Lucky Jonah is a hilarious take on a Freaky Friday-esque switcheroo with a major identity crisis. (From HarperCollins Canada)
From the book
The jump shot goes up. Looks good to me, but what do I know? I don't play basketball. I'm watching from the sidelines.
The shot doesn't look good to my friend Magnus.
"Short!" he calls. He works his way towards the basket and leaps at just the right time to grab the rebound.
"Back to me!" calls the shooter, a guy with dyed blond hair on Magnus's team.
Magnus fakes the pass, spins, and drives to the basket, beating an enormously tall, skinny guy named McClarty, who plays for the East High School team. McClarty looks like a line segment — length without breadth — but does he ever have length! He has to duck through doors. Magnus beats him, though, and his layup drops through the chain netting for an easy two points. McClarty shakes his head in frustration.
