Vancouver's Philip Kim(external link) first got into breakdancing after he saw a street performance just a few years ago. Now the art has become an indispensable part of who he is. It's not simply a physical feat — it's part of how he sees himself and sees the world. "I break because I honestly feel like this is what I was meant to do," Kim says. "It's the one time for me where I truly feel free. If I wasn't dancing, I honestly don't know what I'd be doing."
In this video made by filmmaker and YouTube creator JR Alli(external link) and Kenny Choi(external link), you get to step inside Kim's dreamlike world and watch him dance in the city he loves. "Vancouver, to me, is home," he says. "There is where I started dancing, it's where everything I love is, and there's no place I'd rather be."
