OTTAWA, ON—On the very day that Minister of Democratic Institutions Karina Gould announced that the Liberal government would no longer be pursuing electoral reform, despite Justin Trudeau's 2015 campaign promise to do so, Sophie Grégoire Trudeau is reported to be feeling "concerned" about her husband's definition of a promise.
According to unnamed sources, Sophie is considering making a speech supporting the Prime Minister's decision, but is also spending an inordinate time saying "Really? He's made promises to me. Are you sure he used that exact word? Like he promise promised?"
He did! Publicly. Several times. Also during a speech from the throne after he was elected. And in a tweet too, even!
In a House of Commons news conference today, NDP MP Nathan Cullen called the Prime Minister a "liar" after Trudeau sent a mandate letter that removed electoral reform from Gould's list of goals, adding that this was "one of the most cynical displays of self-serving politics this government has yet to engage in."
To which Sophie said, "hmmmm. Um… hrmmph."
At press time, she was reportedly screening the couple's wedding video while cross-reference it to the Prime Minister's brand new mandate letter, and was not to be disturbed.
