Hamilton firefighters were called after 3 a.m. to a car fire on Mary Street, north of Cannon Street.
Firefighters arrived to see the car in flames. The fire caused an estimated $10,000 damage. Police seized the car and are investigating the incident as a suspected arson.
The car was parked on the same street where gunshots have been fired in recent weeks into two separate homes, both times when people were inside.
It's not clear if the fire is linked to those shooting incidents. Hamilton police did not release any information about a tie to those shootings.
"If people are in the car and driving and it starts on fire, then you would assume that there was a mechanical breakdown," said fire spokesman Claudio Mostacci. "But when a vehicle's parked and it starts on fire, the police are contacted."
