Suspects fled, leaving behind sawed off shotgun, expandable baton and knife
A woman in Red Deer was assaulted when she confronted two men in her car, which she had just reported as stolen.
The suspects then fled on foot, leaving behind a sawed off shotgun, an expandable baton and a large knife, RCMP said in a release about the incident, which happened on Dec. 14.
The 25-year-old woman reported her Honda Civic as stolen at about 10 a.m. from the Normandeau district.
A short time later, police were notified that the owner had found her car — with the two suspects inside — at a nearby gas station on Gaetz Avenue.
When the woman confronted the men, one of them hit and kicked her before they both fled, RCMP said.
Officers searched the area with help from the K-9 unit but did not locate the suspects.
RCMP obtained surveillance pictures of the two suspects and are looking for public assistance to identify them.
Anyone with information is asked to call Red Deer RCMP at 403-343-5575 or contact Crime Stoppers.
