Wind warnings in place around central and southern portions of province
RCMP are advising motorists to take caution when travelling on highways Monday as high winds are pushing vehicles off the road.
Winds are highest in the south, where Raymond RCMP advise travel is not recommended on Highways 4, 5, 62 and surrounding highways.
RCMP in Coaldale, just east of Lethbridge, said there have been several rollover collisions caused by high winds.
A wind warning is in effect for the area with wind gusts of up to 100 km/h possible. Environment Canada issued wind warnings for much of the central and southern portions of the province.
Wind is being blamed for a semi-trailer rollover on Highway 2 near Claresholm, which blocked traffic for about an hour Monday morning.
Traffic was re-routed onto side roads while crews worked remove the semi.
