Mild weather blows into southern Manitoba

Single-digit daytime highs are headed into the province and expected to stay until Christmas Eve

This is more like it.
The deep cold that has blanketed southern Manitoba for two weeks has finally moved on. The extreme wind chills are gone.
Instead, single-digit daytime highs are being carried into the province on the back of strong winds, which could hit 70 km/h overnight Monday and into Tuesday afternoon.
The winds should ease up sometime Tuesday afternoon and the mild temperatures are expected to stay until Christmas Eve.
And other than Monday, there is also plenty of sunshine in the forecast.
Winnipeg forecast for Dec. 19
  • High –6 C.
  • Periods of light snow ending early this morning then cloudy.
  • Light snow beginning this afternoon; about 2-4 centimetres expected by the time it ends tonight.
  • Wind south 30 km/h gusting to 50 km/h.
  • Snow ending overnight.
  • Wind gusting to 70 km/h overnight.
  • Temperature rising to –2 C by Tuesday morning.
Normal temperatures for this time of year are a daytime high of –11 C and an overnight low of –21 C.
