Prime Minister chose one of band's Christmas songs for Montreal radio playlist
They've captured the hearts of many people and now Newfoundland folk duo Fortunate Ones seem to have captured the heart of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
Trudeau chose a Christmas song by the St. John's-based musicians, Catherine Allan and James O'Brien, as his pick for the season in an interview on CHOM 97.7's Mornings Rock radio show in Montreal Friday.
"This year I brought in, I think you guys will play it later, a song from an East Coast folk duo called the Fortunate Ones, who have this beautiful Christmas song called "This Empty Street" that I'd love for you guys [to play]."
"They're from St. John's, they're great," the prime minister told hosts Terry DiMonte and Heather Backman.
The song was played on the show, and the musicians called the nod "an honour" on Facebook.
