Bail hearing waived, woman remanded to custody
Natalia Feldman, 44, will enter a plea Jan. 4 on a charge of theft of an item over $5,000, allegedly stolen from Spicer Cole Fine Jewellers at the Regent Mall in Fredericton on Oct. 6.
Feldman appeared in Fredericton provincial court with lawyer T.J. Burke and waived her right to a bail hearing.
She will be remanded in custody in Miramichi at the New Brunswick Women's Correctional Centre.
Feldman and her partner, Grigori Zaharov, were found guilty earlier this fall of stealing a diamond ring in Saint John.
The pair were captured on security cameras as they swapped a $10,000 diamond for a duplicate at W. Smith and Co. Fine Jewellers on Oct. 7.
They were arrested in Vaughan, Ont., after a Canada-wide warrant was issued.
Zaharov was sentenced to one year in jail, on top of time served, and one year probation.
Feldman was given a suspended sentence with time served. She was re-arrested after that on the Fredericton charge, and remanded in custody.
