EMS had to use Naloxone, used to counter the effects of opioids, on a driver at the scene
Calgary police say a crash that injured six people in Marlborough on Monday afternoon involved a stolen car with a driver who was overdosing.
The collision took place shortly before 4:30 p.m. in the 600-block of Marlborough Way N.E. and involved a white GMC van and a red Mazda sedan.
The driver of the stolen vehicle, believed to be in his 30s, was unconscious when crews arrived and paramedics had to use Naloxone — used for treating overdoses from opioids, including fentanyl — to revive him.
According to EMS, that man and a female passenger in her 20s both had to be extricated from the stolen vehicle and were taken to hospital in serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
The other four people involved in the crash, ranging in age from their 30s to their 50s, all suffered minor injuries.
The collision required five ambulances.
