Snowfall warning in effect for P.E.I.
The list of closures continued to grow as Monday's storm intensified in the afternoon.
At around 2 p.m., Northumberland Ferries announced that ferry services between Wood Islands, P.E.I., and Caribou, N.S. were cancelled due to weather conditions.
Public schools closed two hours early on P.E.I. and snow has started to fall as a storm approaches that is expected to get nasty by late afternoon.

Holland College and UPEI announced they would close as of 12:30 p.m.
Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning for all of P.E.I. The snow started around 11 a.m., and it is expected to come down heavily in the late afternoon.
"The commute home this afternoon is going to be significantly more challenging than the commute to work or to school," said CBC meteorologist Jim Abraham.
"The worst conditions will be into the late afternoon into the early evening when the snow will be at its heaviest and the winds will begin to pick up."
The wind could gust as strong as 80 km/h, starting at around 6 p.m.
About five centimetres is expected during the day, and a further 10 centimetres before the heavy snow stops after midnight.
Keep an eye on Thursday
Flurries will continue into Tuesday with another two centimetres expected.
It's too early to predict amounts, but Environment Canada is forecasting more flurries for Wednesday and Thursday.
CBC meteorologist Brennan Allen suggests the Thursday weather will be something to look out for.
"Another system looks likely, bringing with it strong winds, and snow or rain," said Allen.
The first day with no snow in the forecast is Saturday, but there is more snow or rain predicted for Sunday.
