Diagnosis unexpected, tests show cancer widespread
Saskatchewan Party MLA Roger Parent has been diagnosed with cancer, the provincial government announced Tuesday. The news was unexpected.
Parent visited the doctor after he felt unwell, a press release said. Tests revealed the cancer has spread widely through his body.
During Parent's treatment, other Saskatoon MLAs will help anyone needing assistance.
Parent has been an MLA for Saskatoon Meewasin since 2011. He has served on a number of committees, including the Standing Committee for Human Services, the Standing Committee for Private Bills and the Special Committee on Traffic Safety.
Before he was elected, Parent was also involved with the Saskatoon Homelessness Initiative Partnership, SREDA Aboriginal Economic Development Committee, Saskatchewan Committee on Aboriginal Procurement and Métis Nation – Saskatchewan.
Parent's family is asking for the public's thoughts and prayers at this time.
