Charlottetown announces New Year's Eve plans

Night will include fireworks, buskers and concert featuring singer from Glass Tiger

Five-time Juno Award winner Alan Frew of Glass Tiger and Canadian singer/songwriter Tyler Shaw will headline Charlottetown's outdoor New Year's Eve concert, the city announced Friday.
The event will also feature local artist Meaghan Blanchard, Island traditional Acadian band Gadelle, Caribbean fusion band I and The Village, and Julia Dunn, a 16-year-old singer/songwriter from Charlottetown who sang a duet with country superstar Keith Urban and just recently completed her debut self-titled album.
The free, family friendly event takes place on the north side of Great George Street by Province House.

Fireworks at 7:30 p.m.

There will be a fireworks display at 7:30 p.m..
The party will continue until midnight with more adult-oriented entertainment and a unique pyrotechnic finale. Entertainment along Great George Street will include horse and wagon rides, buskers and a Peoples' Night Parade which will tell the story of our Island and Canadian People over the past 150 years.
The city received $100,000 from the federal government for the event.
