A cat was severely injured after being thrown from a moving pickup truck, according to Chatham-Kent police.
The cat was tossed from a single cab Chevrolet Duramax pickup truck around 5:35 p.m. Sunday just outside Dresden, near McCreary Line and Dawn Valley Road.
A witness checked on the cat and took it to a veterinary clinic. The investigation has been taken over by the Ontario SPCA, according to police.
The cat has a broken lower jaw and chipped teeth along with numerous scratches, said the OSPCA. It says the cat was unable to have x-rays taken today, but it will try again tomorrow.
The vehicle was a late-model diesel truck with a loud exhaust, tinted windows and after-market tail lights. It was last seen traveling towards Dresden.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Const. Mike Taylor at 519-436-6600 ext. 87198 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
