Christmas time is here: Santa Claus Parade rolls through Winnipeg

Pre-parade activities started at 4 p.m. while the main attraction got rolling at 5 p.m. on Saturday

Old Saint Nick was on the move through Winnipeg streets.
Starting at 5 p.m. on Saturday on the corner of Portage Avenue and Young Street, the 2016 Santa Claus Parade got started with thousands on the sidelines to watch.
Considered to be the longest-running outdoor event in Manitoba, the Santa Claus Parade first came to Winnipeg in 1909.
This year, it features 80 different entries, 20 of which are new.

After departing, grand marshal Fred Penner guided the parade east on Portage Avenue to Main Street. The floats and entertainment continued south onto William Stephenson Way before wrapping up at Westbrook Street.
