Charlottetown's Eastlink Centre will be busy this weekend with more than 170 athletes competing in the 25th annual Atlantic Cup Speed Skating Championships.
Dawn Binns, a volunteer with Speed Skate P.E.I., said the event is the biggest competition the club has hosted in 10 years.
"Certainly the Canada East event we hosted last year really put P.E.I. on the map as a great place to attend a competition and we think that's a big part of why our numbers have gone up," she said.
According to Speed Skate P.E.I.'s website, six provinces and one territory, Nunavut, are represented in the two-day championship.
P.E.I. has more than 40 speed skaters competing this weekend.
