Community matched federal funds with equal amount
Upgrades to Kinkora Place are set to begin after the community centre received a Canada 150 infrastructure grant of $92,500 Wednesday.
Those funds will be equally matched by the community of Kinkora, P.E.I., bringing the total to $185,000.
The money will help build an addition onto the building and improve the air conditioning and heating system, repair the floor and roof. Other improvements include new signage and audio equipment.
Pat Duffy, chair of the Community of Kinkora said the facility is a community gathering spot for all ages, and serves as a facility for many social and business functions.
"These repairs, upgrades and the addition will position us well to attract even more special events," Duffy said in a release.
