P.E.I. sees big shift to part-time work

Job creation stagnant all year
The number of full-time jobs on P.E.I. hit its lowest mark since December of 2010 in October.
With job creation continuing to falter, and more people in the workforce, the unemployment rate rose to 11.7 per cent in October from 10.8 per cent in September, according to Statistics Canada figures released Friday.
The number of jobs was down slightly. There has been virtually no job creation on the Island since March, following a significant loss of jobs in the months around the new year.
The picture grows worse when you look at full-time employment, which has been on a downward trend all year. There were 60,600 full-time jobs on the Island in January, and just 57,600 in October.
Nationally the unemployment rate was unchanged at 7.0 per cent, again with a shift towards part-time work.
