Municipality of McCreary heats up to 20.2 C, hottest spot in province
Manitoba is in the midst of a mini November heat wave.
On Friday, 22 locations in the province broke records for unseasonably warm temperatures. The hottest spot was McCreary, Man. which reached a temperature of 20.2 C, breaking a record held since 1975 of 20 C.
Gretna smashed the longest-held record reaching a high of 17.4 C more than a full degree Celsius than the hottest day Nov. 4 on record in 1963.
The temperature at The Forks in Winnipeg reached a high of 14.5 degrees, falling just short of its record of 15.2 C in 2008.
After fog on Thursday disappeared, Friday's clear skies gave the sun full access to heat things up into the mid-teens, a trend that will continue through the weekend. In fact, there's a good chance we won't see single-digit highs until late next week.
Normal temperatures for this time of year are a daytime high of 2 C and an overnight low of –6 C.
