It rained 28 out of 31 days this month in Vancouver, surpassing the old record of 26 days
If you felt like Vancouver has been extremely soggy this month, you're not wrong. The record for most days of rain in October was broken.
It rained 28 days out of 31 days this month, surpassing the old record of 26 days set in 1967 and again in 1985.
It wasn't just a record breaking number of rainy days in Vancouver.
Victoria set a new record too. It rained on 27 days over the province's capital this month, surpassing the old record of 25 days.
While it's been a wet one, the record has not been broken for the most rainfall this month. At Vancouver International Airport, 190 mm of rain was recorded as of noon on October 31, making it the 10th wettest October on record.
"So we've had a lot of days with rain, in terms of the amounts it certainly has been above normal. We usually see about 120 mm of rain in the month of October, " said Ross MacDonald, meteorologist with Environment Canada.
The good news is, the forecast calls for drying skies Monday evening, a treat for those who will be out trick-or-treating.
