A memorial service was held on Friday afternoon in Airdrie for Jim Kruk, the pilot of a plane that crashed a week ago in British Columbia, killing him along with three other men, including former Alberta premier Jim Prentice.
The twin jet engine Cessna Citation took off on the night of Oct. 13 from Kelowna, headed for Springbank Airport near Calgary. But the plane crashed eight minutes in to the flight.
The service for Kruk, who was a retired RCMP officer, took place at the Town and Country Centre in Airdrie.
An education trust fund has been established at TD Bank for Kruk's two teenaged sons.
Calgary optometrist Ken Gellatly and Calgary businessman Sheldon Reid were also killed in the crash.
A public state memorial for Prentice has been set for Oct. 28 at 11 a.m. in Calgary at the Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium.
