Summerside, P.E.I., is putting together a database to make it easier for employers to find the workers they need.
Council awarded a contract at its meeting Tuesday night for a web-based labour supply and demand tool.
This has been a big concern for an awful lot of established businesses. - Coun. Brent Gallant
The database type product will help businesses looking to locate in the area to see more clearly how many people with the skills they need are in the area.
"[It's] also extremely important for present employers to find new employees," said Coun. Brent Gallant.
"This has been a big concern for an awful lot of established businesses. And if you talk to business people around the area the largest concern they have is available labour."
The contract was awarded to MDB Insights for a total cost of just $15,999.
Gallant said the tool should be ready in the new year.
