Investigation launched after inappropriate material allegedly uploaded to social media
A 25-year-old man from the hamlet of Nevis is facing charges of making child pornography, child sexual exploitation, cruelty to animals and careless storage of a firearm after inappropriate material was allegedly uploaded to a social media account.
The Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams (ALERT) Internet Child Exploitation Unit began the investigation along with Stettler RCMP, which lead to the search of a home in Nevis, where a number of electronic devices were seized.
Police discovered "a significant amount of child sexual exploitation material" as well as offences involving a pet dog.
The dog was seized and taken to a local veterinary clinic. Three unsecured firearms were were also seized.
The man now faces a slew of charges, including one count each of accessing, possessing and making available child exploitation. He is also charged with making child pornography, cruelty to animals and making bestiality, as well as three counts of careless storage of a firearm and possession of a prohibited weapon. Nevis is about 60 kilometres east of Red Deer.
