Prominent Toronto city councillor Shelley Carroll is hoping to make the transition to Queen's Park.
Carroll, the councillor for Ward 33 – Don Valley East, announced in a news release Tuesday that she'll seek the Liberal nomination in Don Valley North riding, one of the new ridings being created to match the federal electoral map.
Carroll currently sits on the city's police services board, and has previously served as chair of the works committee and its budget chief. She's been a councillor for 13 years.
"It's time for me to bring that knowledge and experience to Queens Park as a proud member of the Liberal Party," Carroll said in the news release.
The race to become the Liberal nominee is expected to begin in mid-November, with a final decision expected early in the new year, according to Carroll's spokesperson. Its unclear who else will be running for the Liberal nomination.
Carroll is set to speak with reporters about her decision at city hall on Wednesday morning.
