High winds may cause traffic restrictions on Confederation Bridge, Northumberland Ferries crossings cancelled
Rainfall warnings have been issued Monday for Kings County and Queens County.
The warnings issued by Environment Canada say rain will be, at times heavy with total amounts expected to reach 60 mm.
The rain will taper to showers from west to east later in the afternoon or evening. Not as much rain is expected for Prince County.
In addition to the heavy rain, there will be strong northerly winds gusting up to 80 km/h that will affect the province later this afternoon and continue tonight.
Northumberland Ferries says the crossing between Wood Islands, P.E.I., and Caribou, N.S., have been cancelled until further notice.
The Confederation Bridge issued a statement advising there may be traffic restrictions on the bridge as a result of the high winds.
The rain and heavy wind is from a trough of low pressure that is passing south of the Maritimes Monday before moving into Newfoundland tonight.
Environment Canada warns heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible.
