Man shot to death has been described by police as a suspect in the home invasion
Edmonton police have confirmed that the man found shot in a home after a bizarre and violent home invasion is the city's 34th homicide victim of 2016.
On Wednesday, police announced that 23-year-old Omar Terrence Albert was the man found shot in the basement of a north Edmonton home early Tuesday morning.

Police responded to a call on McConachie Boulevard around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday for reports of a break and enter and an aggravated assault.
The homeowners, a man and wife, were severely beaten, tied up, and blindfolded by several suspects who demanded money and drugs.
Albert was later found in the basement of the home suffering from a gunshot wound, he died later in the hospital. Police have described him as being one of the suspects.
The wife was released from hospital on Tuesday but the man, who several neighbours have said was a former member of the Canadian military, remained in hospital on Wednesday.
Detectives believe the house where the fatal shooting and the beatings took place was wrongfully targeted. It's unclear exactly how the violence unfolded in the home.
The house next door is known to police and is being investigated, police said.
