24-year-old received life-threatening injuries
A man from Sioux Valley Dakota Nation suffered life-threatening injuries when he was shot while hunting late Tuesday night, RCMP say.
The 24-year-old was hunting in a wooded area in the rural municipality of Riverdale, Man., northwest of Brandon, at about 11 p.m. when police were called about someone having received a gunshot wound, an RCMP spokesperson said.
Early indications are that he was shot by someone else, police said.
Brandon RCMP and the RCMP major crimes unit are investigating.
STARS Air Ambulance was called to the area late Tuesday night, but a spokesperson said they were stood down because they were not medically required.
The RM of Riverdale is about 200 kilometres northwest of Winnipeg.
