Every sport has a ubiquitous voice, like Vin Scully for baseball and Marv Albert for basketball.
For hockey, there's Bob Cole.
The legendary broadcaster has been calling games for Hockey Night in Canada since the Trudeau in office was named Pierre, and the St. John's native is still going strong.
So to celebrate Cole, who was named a Member of the Order of Canada on Friday, here are some of the most memorable moments from his career.

'They're going home!'

During Game 6 of the 1972 Summit Series, Bobby Clarke broke Soviet superstar Valeri Kharlamov's ankle with a vicious slash, forcing Kharlamov to miss Game 7 and be ineffective in the deciding eighth game.
Four years later, Clarke and the Philadelphia Flyers bullied the visiting Red Army team, which included Kharlamov, into leaving the Spectrum ice in protest. Start the video at 3:40 and listen to hockey history.

Sakic's golden goal

It had been 50 years since Canada's men's team won Olympic gold in hockey. Joe Sakic's end-to-end goal late in the third secured the medal for the Canadians.

Honourable mention: 1972 Summit Series

If there's a goal that everyone remembers, it was back in old '72.
Tragically Hip lyrics notwithstanding,(external link) most of Canada heard Paul Henderson's Summit Series-winning goal from Foster Hewitt's call on television. But Cole was on the radio team and had a goal call of his own.(external link)
