Adult male died at the scene in Redstone, a woman died later in hospital
Two people are dead after a shooting incident in the northeast Calgary community of Redstone on Tuesday night.
Police say they responded to Redstone Manor N.E. just after 8 p.m.
They found a man and a woman who had been shot.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene and a woman was rushed to the Foothills hospital with a large police escort in critical, life-threatening condition. She was later pronounced dead from her injuries.
Police said at least one suspect was still at large late Tuesday, although they did not give a description.
"At this time there are no concerns for the safety of the general public," police said in a post on Facebook.
The homicide unit is investigating.
"It is surprising to me, because I don't know what is happening, I have never seen this in four years. This is something new for me," said Ramat Qureshi, who lives in Redstone, a new community just northeast of the airport.
"It kind of scares me because I have two kids."
